Oceankit swallowed, before feeling nervous suddenly. However, she pushed that feeling away, straightening up. “I was wondering if you needed any help?” She tried to keep her paws from tapping however her front paw continuously taps on the ground, her tail swinging in excitement.

Wasplight limped over as well. "Hey, Oceankit," she greeted, leaning onto her good leg and turning to the other medicine cat. "Covewhisper." She nodded to him, then turned back to Oceankit.

Oceankit’s head turned towards Wasplight, suddenly looking happy. “Hey Wasplight! I was wondering if you needed any help?” She said, looking at the other medicine cat, the one of which she was more used to speaking to.

“Your much better company then Sandkit and Pearlkit.” She said, glancing at Covewhisper. “And plus, I do have fun while helping you out.” She said. It was true. Ever since Oceankit’s birth, Wasplight had played and helped her and that’s why she liked herbs.

Covewhisper watched on with a soft expression, shaking his head after a moment and chuckling. "How old are you now, Oceankit?" He meowed, padding back toward their herb storage. "Wasplight, we may need to head out later. We're running low on some herbs," he added, glancing back at the two.

“Could I come? I’m five moons! In a Moon I should become an apprentice! Then I can help you guys out whenever you need me!” Oceankit said, suddenly excited as she thought of all the possibilities of becoming an apprentice.

Wasplight looked to Covewhisper, then to Oceankit. "I mean, if one of us or even both of us are with her then it should be fine," she suggested to the tom.

"You know you can't leave the camp until you're an apprentice, Oceankit." Covewhisper stated, but paused once more upon hearing Wasplight. Worry descended onto his features. He padded over to speak with the other medicine cat in hushed tones. "Are you sure? She's just a kit. The water, Wasplight," he whispered, flattening his ears in worry.

Wasplight tilted her head, thinking. "Like she said, she is 5 moons old. And we'd be there to help her if she got into trouble," she whispered back, looking him in the eyes.

Covewhisper glanced at the kit and shuffled his paws. He stared at the ground for a long moment before sighing and nodding in agreement. "Lynxpaw will stay in camp in case someone is hurt on patrol and they need assistance," he mewed, lifting his head to look at Wasplight. He turned his gaze to Oceankit. "You'll have to do exactly as we say, okay?"

ic: Russethawk stretched as he walked back into the camp, sleep still making his eyes droop slightly, and padded over to the gathering of cats. "Am I needed for a patrol?" He asked, noting that Sleekstar seemed nowhere to be found.

Silversplash glanced up to spot Russethawk. She stood, stretching out. "A border patrol, and two hunting patrols just left. Maybe wait till at least Loftwing is back?" She meowed, flicking her striped tail.

Russethawk snorted. "Neither of them are fit for leadership," he muttered. "Have you seen Wolfpaw? I want to teach him some more battle moves, while the water's cold. It'll wake him up."

"He's with Sunrisekit. I'm surprised she hasn't worn him down to the bone." Bluemoon hopped into the conversation, rather rudely considering her sister was just about to speak. She beamed at the older warrior, waving her tail.

Wolfpaw glanced up, sighing when he spotted his mentor. He nudged Sunrisekit back toward the nursery and pushed to his paws, padding slowly over.

"Once the patrols are back. Might as well eat first." Covewhisper purred gently and flicked his tail over the kit's ear. "You're welcome to stay in here with us though, Oceankit. Unless your littermates are looking for you."

Wolfpaw snorted. "Being around Sunrisekit is like going through a night without sleeping," he meowed, flicking his tail anxiously across the floor.

"Isn't that bad if it does? How will we fish?" Wolfpaw cocked his head to the side and rose to his paws. "We rely a lot on the fish, don't we?"

Russethawk purred. "Well, yes. Sometimes the water freezes enough that fish get trapped, we can eat those if worst comes to worst. But I can teach you how to hunt the mice and frogs that won't get frozen, so don't worry about starving."

Wolfpaw's tail twitched anxiously and he curled it between his back legs. "What if I'm not good at hunting them? And what if I fail at fishing? Then I'll never become a warrior and I'll be a failure to the clan!" His simple, slightly anxious question turned into panic as he crouched and covered his eyes with his paws.

Russethawk blinked for a few moments, then lay his tail on Wolfpaw's back. "You really think I'd let you starve?" he asked softly. "I'm your mentor, Wolfpaw. It's my job to teach you things, you don't need to be good at them straight away."

Covewhisper busied himself with sorting through the herb again. He was bored, and his stomach growled to further remind him of his hunger.

Oakfur went to join the hunting patrol to the lakes, but jolted backwards as Bluemoon darted forward to take his place with an excited mew.

Whisperocean sat at the edge of the camp, watching the group of cats leaving. He shuffled his paws awkwardly, sort of hoping someone would come to talk with him. The thought of walking over to other cats made his fur prickle. Wrapping his white-tipped tail around his feet, he took a deep breath.

Surprised by the sudden interaction, Whisperocean tensed a bit. He took a deep breath. "Hopefully not too high," he mewed. "I wouldn't want to fall in a drift or anything." He shuffled his paws, trying to ease the prickle of anxiety in the back of his skull.
