Cherryhaze took in the wound and flattened her ears, excusing herself to go find Kestrelthorn and Bumblestar with a last call over her shoulder, "Come find me when you're patched up, Skystreak."

Peachwhisker led the young tom to a nest in her den and looked over the wound as Skystreak blithered about the unrivaled strength of the strangers. The bite itself looked normal, but the fur around it was spiked like a hedgehog's and the flesh, rather than being raw and red, was a sickly bluish black. "I've never seen anything like this before..." she muttered with a frown. Peachwhisker trotted to her stores and pulled out thyme, feeding it to the panicked tom then looking back to the wound.

Cherryhaze trotted quickly to the leader and other deputy, skidding to a halt in the snow. "There's something you two should see," she meowed, flattening her ears to her head. "It's bad."

Kestrelthorn snorted. "Skystreak limping back to camp in defeat? I think I've seen enough."

"He says he was attacked by rogues." Cherryhaze twitched her ears. "The wound on his leg is bad, Kestrelthorn."

"Rogues?" Kestrelthorn snorted. "What a joke."

"Kestrelthorn, you didn't see the wound!" Cherryhaze snapped venomously at the other deputy. "That's why I've come to get you! So you can see it!" 

Willowpaw perked her ears upon hearing the normally levelheaded deputy snap, looking over from her spot next to Inkpaw. The tom looked over lazily, licking his front paw and rasping it over his ears.

Frostedstep padded cautiously into the medicine den, being careful of her injured paw. "Skystreak?" She mewed, stepping closer. "What happened?"

"Rogues," Skystreak panted, eyes wide and bloodshot and claws gripping the ground. He felt himself convulse in pain.

Peachwhisker flattened her ears at the other cats in the den. "Give him space!" she hissed.

Kestrelthorn's ears flattened. "He probably fell off something. Don't listen to his lies." He flicked his tail, but followed Cherryhaze anyway.

Peachwhisker flattened her ears at Cherryhaze and Kestrelthorn, then returned to her patient's side.

Cherryhaze padded closer and lied down behind Skystreak, nudging his ear with her nose. "Peachwhisker, does that wound look like something from a fall?" She sent a pointed glare towards Kestrelthorn. 

Frostedstep backed away, watching on with wide, worried eyes.

Driftkit sat at the edge of the camp in a huff, just enough in the sunlight that it warmed his fur. "Can we go out of camp now?" he asked his mother, a little irritated.
Ivyglow cuffed his ear. "Did you not see Skystreak?"


Kestrelthorn dipped his head slightly to the medicine cat. "What happened?" he asked, rather bitterly.

Peachwhisker shook her head. "Some sort of infected bite." she mewed, pressing a pulp of chervil and marigold to the wound, "I don't know what could have caused it, it almost looks as if it's rotted away."

Cherryhaze shot yet another pointed look to Kestrelthorn, grooming the fur on Skystreak's head. "Tell us what happened, Skystreak."

Mumblekit batted lightly at his brother, shivering in the snow. "It's too cold outside of camp anyways!"

"Rogues..." he rasped again. He blinked a few times then passed out, breathing raggedly.

ic: Gustynose leaped through the entrance to the camp with the same ease that he'd always had, his mind only catching up to the scene before him after a few heartbeats. "StarClan alive, why are there so many cats at the medicine den!" he hissed around his mouthful of borage.

Cherryhaze glanced up from grooming Skystreak, blinking wide eyes at the sight of Gustynose. "Skystreak was attacked." 

Frostedstep shot one last worried glance at the warrior before leaving the medicine den, muttering an apology as she nudged past the medicine cats.
