Russethawk nodded. "An apprentice from RushClan, when I was a kit. Hasn't happened since, and there's no cure. We're just luckier than the others."

"Luck or StarClan's gift?" Morningrose smirked, twitching her tail.

"Luck," Russethawk repeated stiffly, padding out into the camp again.
Sleekstar shook his fur out. "StarClan's gift is my nine lives. I should've saved Bluemoon."

Morningrose brushed against him sympathetically. "It's not your fault," she mewed, "You didn't know she'd drown. Besides, what could you have done that Troutfin didn't? Silversplash is just an overdramatic furball."
Troutfin shifted awkwardly at the mention of his name, not wanting to be brought into this.

Salmonpaw looked wistfully at the empty freshkill pile. She'd probably get mad at me if I asked to go hunting considering what happened.

Sleekstar purred at his sister. "Thanks, Morningrose, but they have every right to grieve. We lost a great warrior."

"They don't have to grieve so angrily." Morningrose huffed.

Sleekstar shook his head, standing up. "I'm sure they'll move on, she was a beloved part of the family. I should find Loftwing."

"I can come with you!" she chirped, "I'll be emotional support!"
Troutfin tried to stand and felt his legs buckle, his vision going hazy for a moment.

Salmonpaw's belly grumbled. He got to his paws and approached the entrance to camp, hoping to sneak out and catch something without notice.

Sleekstar shook his head. "Sorry, Morningrose. Leader stuff." He licked her ear.

Morningrose's tail drooped sadly. "Oh, okay," she mewed.

Covewhisper hissed for the tom to stay down, curling tightly around him. "Stay, Troutfin. You need to relax." 

Silversplash spotted the movement out of the corner of her eye and rose to her paws. "Salmonpaw, wait up," she called and trotted over, blinking the haze of grief away.

Salmonpaw huffed and waited for his mentor to reach his side. "I'm starved," he mewed, "And I figure the others are too."

Troutfin settled bashfully back into his nest, not sure how to react to the medicine cat's protective touch.

"I'm sure they are. Any specific place you want to go?" Silversplash cocked her head to the side, twitching her ears. 

Covewhisper purred soothingly to the tom and licked his ear.

Troutfin's stiffened limbs relaxed and he felt himself drift back into sleep.

"The dry forest maybe," Salmonpaw muttered. The place with the lowest chance of drowning related incidents.

Silversplash sent him a grateful look, leaning down to lick his ear. "Dry forest it is," she purred as she stood up straight, padding out of camp.

Salmonpaw screwed up his face in disgust then followed her.

Sleekstar padded out into the den properly, shaking his pelt out and leaping up on to the Skyledge. "Let all cats old enough to hunt the Green Lakes join beneath the Skyledge for a Clan meeting!" he yowled, settling with a little more confidence on top of the ledge. Autumnstar... I hope you made the right choice.

Oceankit perked up, sneaking herself out of the nursery, looking over her shoulder at where her foster mother was, swallowing as she walked over to where Covewhisper and Wasplight were sitting, looking at them. “Can I sit with you two?”

Whisperocean woke up from his stress-induced sleep. Blinking away the exhaustion, he stood. he shook himself trying to rid himself of the horror from before. Putting on a brave face, Whisperocean padded out of the den and placed himself down near the edge of the camp, close enough to hear Sleekstar. He gazed up at his leader, anxiously awaiting his words.

Asterdream furrowed her brow and glanced around the camp. Where was Brightsong? She stretched her neck up to peer over other cats. Flicking her tail, she pushed herself to her feet to search.

OOC: Poofing Cats time!

Brightsong limped her way towards Asterdream, nosing her pelt when she noticed that she was getting up. “Sit down, we need to listen!” She muttered kindly as she smiled at her mate, sitting herself down, letting her leg stretch out so it doesn’t hurt.

Otterpaw found herself sitting by herself, no idea where her mentor was. Maybe they could be with the other warriors?

Sleekstar looked around, not shaking under the accusing gaze of a few of the cats, and deciding to wait a moment longer.

Perchcloud purred as Toadkit stumbled out of the nursery. "Sweetheart, didn't you hear Sleekstar? You should stay with your mother." 
Toadkit huffed. "But I wanna listen!" he whined.

Newtpad gently nudged Perchcloud with a purr and sat down under the Skyledge.
Morningrose sat down under the Skyledge and looked up with an ecstatic expression.

Covewhisper glanced down at the tiny kit and sighed inwardly. He nodded after a moment, turning his head to watch Sleekstar. 

Dreampoppy sat near her sister, ears twitching when she felt Wolfpaw pad by her and sit slightly closer.

Laurelkit bounded after her mothers and brother, letting out a gleeful giggle as she sat next to them. 

Oakfur remained by Bluemoon's body, barely even giving Sleekstar the courtesy of a glance upwards.

Perchcloud pinned Laurelkit down with one paw and an amused purr.

Sleekstar fluffed his fur, clearing his throat before he spoke. "I will begin by saying that we have lost a great warrior today, and I know StarClan will honour her sacrifice for RippleClan. We will hold a vigil for her tomorrow evening."

Oceankit wriggled as she sat next to the medicine cat, howeverthe wriggling stopped when she heard that a cat had been killed. She hadn’t paid any attention to anything that has happened, so this was new news.

Otterpaw looked down, honouring the cat that had died, not truely knowing them when they were alive, but now they have joined StarClan.

Covewhisper dipped his head in response to the announcement, placing a paw on Oceankit to keep her still. "Show some respect, Oceankit. Bluemoon was a respected, and dear warrior," he mewed softly, wrapping his tail around the kit.

Laurelkit wriggled under her mother's paw, purring up at her before going still. She glanced towards where Oakur remained by his daughter's body.

Asterdream sat down at her mate's request. Slightly leaning against her, she sighed. "Why is this happening? There's always some problem..." Her voice died out, her heart heavy.

Newtpad lowered her head in grief.
Morningrose swished her tail nervously.

Sleekstar felt a silence blanket the camp for a moment, and breathed a small sigh before lifting his head again. "We wish her good hunting, swift running, and shelter where she sleeps," he mewed, fluffing his fur slightly. "And in slightly nicer news, it has come to my attention I should appoint a new deputy."

Morningrose cocked her head curiously. I wonder who he'll choose...

Hollowstream perked her ears up, waving her tail as she settled down near Morningrose. Her silver ears flicked forward, keenly listening. 

Oakfur lifted his head at that, lashing his tail. Hopefully he picks someone with common sense. He narrowed his eyes, looking back down at Bluemoon.

Oceankit nodded, looking at Sleekstar. Her wriggling stopped for a moment, leaving her tail swishing and a paw tapping on the ground. I wonder who he's gonna choose. I bet its like, one of the best warriors!

"Hollowstream," he turned to the warrior, confident in his choice and ignoring the small gasp from Perchcloud. "I say these words before StarClan so they may hear and approve of my choice. Would you like to be the new deputy of RippleClan?"

Hollowstream puffed out her chest with pride, flicking her dark tail while she nodded. "Yes," she mewed.

Sleekstar dipped his head, purring softly. "Thank you. I want a patrol or two to go out now to hunt, but don't stress yourselves too much, seeing as the gathering is this evening." He leaped off the tall object, indicating the end of the meeting.

Flintpaw walked over to Oakfur. "Is the gathering already this evening? I haven't been paying attention to the time," he whispered carefully. He glanced down at Bluemoon, pawing the ground. "Good choice for a new deputy, yeah?" His next words died in his mouth. He awkwardly sat next to him. "Do you think you could help me with my hunting training today?"

Perchcloud let Laurelkit up and licked her mate's cheek. "I should go hunting."

Sleekstar relaxed as he felt the gazes of the Clan finally moving away from him, padding over to Morningrose. "How are you?"
