RushClan/RippleClan border

The border between RushClan and RippleClan is marked by a swollen, swift moving river of safe water. The river is dotted with large, smooth stones that create stepping stones to the other side. Both shores are rocky and home to various small animals, such as water voles and turtles. During leaf fall the river is full of smooth, fat fish swimming inland.

Stagheart stepped towards the border, hackles raised and short tail puffed out has he sniffed around.

Plumdrop tried not to snort, looking at his bottle-brush tail and glancing at Spiderpaw. "Now, that's not what you do if you want to keep peace if we see a patrol from RippleClan," she said, a little louder than her normal voice.

Stagheart whipped around and snorted, with a look of teasing anger on his face. "I'd like to see you try to look threatening, Plumdrop." he grumbled.

Plumdrop walked past him to the next scent mark, her tail trailing under his nose. "I don't need to look threatening."

"You'll just cute them to death," Stagheart snorted, trotting towards a towering stone by the river and marking it.

Plumdrop snorted. "Exactly! I'll lull them into a false sense of security, then rip their pelts off." She followed him, tail waving.

Stagheart let himself smile for a moment, then shook his head furiously. Focus, Stagheart! "Uh, mark that other area of the border," he mewed, flustered.

Plumdrop's whiskers twitched, the only sign of her disappointment. Does he not like me being this close? "Spiderpaw, come with me," she called curtly.

Spiderpaw forced a gag at the sight of their obvious flirting. She rolled her eyes at her mentor, muttering to herself as she padded off with her. Once a little ways away, she glanced up at the warrior, narrowing her green eyes for a moment before glancing away. "Why don't they just admit they like each other? I can't stand the flirting, and the them getting flustered." She grumbled lowly.

Stagheart puffed out his chest and trotted with elegant steps to a tall boulder along the riverside, quickly looking over his shoulder to see if Plumdrop was watching.

Plumdrop cuffed Spiderpaw's ear and kept walking, adamantly refusing to look at Stagheart, for fear he would somehow see right through her. Keep it together! she scolded herself, marking the next rock.

"I know I'm riiight," Spiderpaw sang and trotted forward with a smug look on her features, fluffy tail waving. "Just admit it already. The flirting makes me nauseous."

"Looks like they haven't crossed over to our side recently," Stagheart reported, "Maybe we could stop to hunt for a bit?"

"Good idea. Spiderpaw, I want you to catch a mouse," Plumdrop ordered her apprentice, ignoring her remarks.

The tortoiseshell snorted and trotted off, scenting the air. "Spiderpaw, I want you to catch a mouse," she mocked beneath her breath, rolling her eyes.

Stagheart pricked his ear and grinned, keeping his gaze from Plumdrop. "Trying to get rid of her?" he asked.

Plumdrop whipped around. "N-no," she tried to sound stubborn, but cursed herself inwardly as her mew came out more like a squeak. "She needs to learn to be a little more respectful."

"You need to learn to not hide your emotions!" Spiderpaw called back with a snarky tone, huffing and rolling her eyes. She scented the air, but wrinkled her nose. "Would mice even be this close to the water?" She hissed under her breath.

"That's it! You're clearing the elders den, and no battle training for a half moon!" Plumdrop glared at her apprentice.

"Don't punish me for your blatant inability to see what's right in front of your face! I'm just disliking having to suffer through your obliviousness!" Spiderpaw bristled as she snapped at her mentor, matching Plumdrop's glare with one of her own.

Stagheart stepped between them, chest puffed out. "Spiderpaw, knock it off." he mewed calmly, his voice low.

"You're just as bad, Stagheart!" Spiderpaw huffed in her irritation, stepping right up in the deputy's face. "She likes you. Stop being mousebrains!" The tortoiseshell whirled and stomped off. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have a mouse to hunt." She pointed her nose in the air, lashing her tail.

Stagheart's eyes darted to her pretty tortoiseshell pelt, then he quickly looked back to Spiderpaw. "I- I- that doesn't matter to- what-" he stuttered.

Spiderpaw could only just barely catch his stuttering and she snorted, focusing instead on her hunting while she whispered, "Oblivious idiots."

Plumdrop shifted on her paws slightly, gulping. "I-I do like you, Stagheart," she stuttered. "I just...I didn't want to say anything."

Stagheart felt his heart leap into his throat and looked away, trying to answer. "I, well...I think you're pretty-pretty amazing and..." he stammered awkwardly.

Plumdrop softened, purring as she leaned up to brush her cheek against his. "The great deputy of RushClan, embarrassed?" she teased.

Spiderpaw trotted back over with a mouse in her jaws, stopping by her mentor. She set it by her paws and flicked her tail. "We going back?" She mewed, though for once, her tone wasn't dripping with sass.

Stagheart nodded, "Once we're back we should send out some hunting patrols. Leafbare is coming and we need to prepare."

Plumdrop nodded. "We can hunt a little more on the way back," she looked at Stagheart, for once not feeling like he was looking down at her.
