Firelily glanced up and narrowed her eyes at the other warrior, turning her nose up as she moved away to let Stonestripe through.

Stonestripe froze in his tracks at the sight of the body, the swathe of cobwebs falling from his jaws. "I...she's dead, I can't do anything." he stuttered.

"We know." Plumdrop brushed her tail down the medicine cat's back. "We just...we can't bring her back to camp like this. Everyone will panic."

Stonestripe fell back on his haunches, head spinning. "I can't waste cobweb on a dead cat." he stated, "The most we can do is clean her up and carry her home, or bury her before the Clan sees the body."

Spiderpaw trekked through the snow and froze when she spotted the patrol, skirting around them. When she spotted a gap, she slid to it and dropped when she saw Spiderstar, eyes widening.

Firelily flattened her ears. "She deserves a vigil in camp with her loved ones, doesn't she?"

"They don't need to see the body to mourn." Stonestripe retorted sadly.
Stagheart rested his head gently against Plumdrop's. "We should inform the Clan she's dead." he decided.

Plumdrop didn't move, neither returning the gesture nor accepting it. "That will go down well," she mewed dryly.

Stagpaw settled beside his sister. "Oh dear," he breathed.

"Plumdrop didn't tell Frozenthistle about this," Spiderpaw hissed and glared at the patrol. "We need to go and tell them," she mewed, gently nudging her brother before darting off once more, impatient in her irritation.

Firelily slumped and nodded. "I suppose that's true, they don't."

"We could wreath her in new leaf flowers to hide the wounds if you insist on bringing her back." Stonestripe mewed.

Plumdrop frowned. "How do we do that?"

"We can't risk them falling off. The kits would be traumatized." Firelily shook her head, glancing towards Plumdrop and Stagheart for their opinions.

Firelily winced, flattening her ears. "I've just never heard of doing that before," she mewed cautiously. "I don't know how it would work," she added, glancing away from the leader's body.

"Fine. Whatever's going to happen, the Clan needs to know." Plumdrop shivered slightly, Frozenthistle's icy gaze burnt into her memory. "Stagheart?"

"Leaving her here seems disrespectful," Firelily agreed and sat down, wrapping her tail around her paws. "We should at least try Stonestripe's idea, shouldn't we?" She glanced towards Plumdrop.

ic: Plumdrop's tail flicked, looking at the other cats in the silence. "I... let's just bury her. We can't keep it hidden from the Clan for long anyway." She padded over to a gnarled tree, testing the earth beneath it by scooping a clump with her paw.
