Found in the Eastern part of RippleClan's territory.

The Green Lakes are a series of interconnected pools of water, with various streams and rather large growths of underwater plants and algae. The shallowest of pools are where new apprentices continue to develop their swimming and hunting skills, but most notably, where they also learn not to drink the water. The fish from here are eaten by the Clan without much trouble, but be warned if you are not a cat of RippleClan descent.

Troutfin stepped carefully onto the marshy grass, feeling his paws sink into the deep mud belong. A beaver slapped its tail against the surface, causing him to flinch.

Sleekstar's tail flicked a little. "Keeping the water open for us," he purred softly, letting the breeze wash over his scent glands and coughing as he inhaled a snowflake.

Bluemoon pranced happily through the mud, showing no obvious care over how it covered her fur and got stuck between her toes. She scented the air, wading into the water.

Troutfin stuck his head into the water, searching for shadows lurking in the murk.

Sleekstar watched the beaver cautiously, but waded into the shallows alongside his clanmates.

Bluemoon stared at the beaver, flexing her claws under the water. "I've never been this close to one of them before!" She chirped happily as she peered at it, twitching about with excitement before moving further into the water, sticking her head under the surface.

"Careful, they have sharp teeth," Troutfin mewed gently.

Sleekstar purred softly with amusement. "Watch how they bite through the trees," he called to Bluemoon, then sunk below the surface to hunt.

Troutfin watched a school of minnows scatter as he stepped into the cool water. As he stepped out of the shallows he began paddling above the surface, looking for shadows beneath him.

Bluemoon nodded absentmindedly, not really paying attention to the toms. She stepped closer to the beavers, jumping back when one of them faced her. Gulping, she slipped further into the water.

Troutfin spotted Bluemoon approach the beavers and hurried towards her, shaking his head at her.

Sleekstar, unaware of what was going on at the surface, blinked a few times to let his eyes adjust to the cool water, feeling the gentle current against his pelt and diving deeper. He disturbed a few minnows at the bottom of the stream, but was too quick for the rather fat carp that attempted to escape the cat.

Bluemoon stared at the large animals, looking between them and Troutfin. After a moment, she sighed and swam away from them, slipping beneath the surface of the water.

Sleekstar surfaced with the carp, gasping for air as the cold water chilled his lungs. He shook his fur off, ignoring the buffeting wind, then peered around for his clanmates. The water seemed to be getting colder by the second. They're going to be trapped if they don't hurry up! he thought, stepping out on to the already frozen layer and trying to break it with his claws.

Bluemoon peered around, glancing up towards the water's surface. The water felt colder, but she ignored it and swam deeper, swiping at a fish with her claws.

Sleekstar looked up, blinking as he was blinded by the snow, and started to try and break the ice up a little more frantically. "Bluemoon! Troutfin!" he yowled helplessly.

Bluemoon swiped once again at the fish and growled when she missed. She looked back up towards the surface. When she saw the ice, her eyes widened and she swam frantically upwards, but was stuck beneath it. Her paws beat at the ice from beneath it.

Troutfin looked at her with panicked, wild eyes, then swam towards shallower waters. As his lungs screamed for air he dug his claws into the rocks lining the lake bottom and pushed upwards, straining his back until he felt a crack.

Bluemoon halted her attack on the ice and glanced around desperately, black creeping in from the edges of her vision. She pushed her back up against the ice, shoving against it until it hurt her. She coughed in reaction to the water filling her lungs, the burn of it making her eyes squeeze shut. Her flailing offered no help, and she began to sink lower, limp in the water while she stared up at the ice.

Troutfin took a gasp of air then dove back into the water, knowing he didn't have time on his side. He spotted Bluemoon and raced towards her, grasping the scruff of her neck in his jaws and floundering back towards the hole.

Sleekstar stood in the water, determined to not let it freeze over again, grabbing Bluemoon's pelt when Troutfin got close.

Troutfin dragged himself onto the ice, spluttering. "I...I think she swallowed too much water," he gasped, breaking off in a coughing fit.

Sleekstar leaned down, pressing his ear to the freezing she-cat's chest, desperate to hear something. "I can't...I think she's dead," he gulped, looking up at Troutfin.

Troutfin let out a mournful yowl. "W-what should we tell the Clan?" he yelped, ears flattened.

"T-the truth," Sleekstar felt his teeth begin to chatter. "No point hiding it-t." He shook his pelt out, trying to dislodge the ice already forming.

Troutfin gently lifted Bluemoon and shifted her onto his back with a grunt, shivering as her head lolled to the side.
